[Dilemma] Struggles in Online Learning

COVID-19 is the primary reason students are prohibited from physical education, which impacts not just the Philippines but also some other countries across the world.

Lockdown quarantine regulations have been implemented, and educational institutions have been stopped, as announced by the government of the Philippines along with the Department of Education (DepEd), two years ago. Schools have decided to introduce a new online learning education system to ensure students never stop studying, even during the pandemic.

However, it is a fact that students were also forced to study and work in an online class set-up. Even though schools formed a new learning system, students and teachers still face challenges and situations that affect their performance in school.

According to the data survey from DepEd, out of 4 million students, 2.75 million who did not enroll were from private schools.

On the other hand, public schools have provided synchronous classes for discussions and printed modules for the activities.

Teachers have stated that many students lack access to technology and have unstable internet connections from various locations. As a result, students cannot attend their classes on time, or others are absent.

Today, students continue to experience such difficulties from having synchronous classes. There has been a lot of rain in the Philippines, which is why students have had to cancel classes at times due to a lack of internet connectivity.

Despite the allocations for education sectors having been made last year, the budget for providing computers and tablets is still insufficient. It should not be big but suitable to provide students with gadgets and home Wi-Fi connections.

Education is a vital part of a person's life. This will boost their cultural understanding, improve their personality and attitude, and motivate them to become self-sufficient.
