In recent events, NASA Climate Scientist Dr. Peter Kalmus together with his peers were arrested on April 6 after chaining themselves to a building in Los Angeles after their protests against the worsening state of climate change.
Climate change has a significant impact on practically every element of the way people live. It will be difficult to combat the issue if only individuals take action. Without the help of the ones in power, it will continue to worsen rapidly.
Although there have been countless movements in combating the issue, it is only a band-aid solution just enough to slow it down, but not stop it.
This planet is not going to be destroyed completely, in long years, it will find itself to recover again, but it can destroy the entire human race. The time will come when this gorgeous planet will no longer be safe for people to live in, and there will be no other options where to go. There is no planet B.
Earth’s temperature and sea levels are rising, ice in the Arctic continues to melt, hurricanes will be more destructive, and worse, an inhabitable planet, and all of humanity is accountable.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Earth has been at its hottest temperature over the past decade, with 2016 being ranked first. This is due to the greenhouse gasses that trap the sun’s heat in the atmosphere.
“We’ve been trying to warn you for so many decades, that we are heading towards a catastrophe, and we’ve (scientists) been being ignored,” Dr. Kalmus said while being chained in the JP Morgan Chase and Co. building—one of the largest contributors for new fossil fuel projects.
Continuing the projects of new and bigger firms for fossil fuel will not make the issue reversed. If we urge for a solution, focus on investing in renewable energy because it is more sustainable and natural, and to push the government to make bigger actions in combating the issue.
Instead of listening to the scientists, the police just arrested them. Everyone must wake up that this is very alarming, and that there is only one Earth.
