[Token of Accomplishment] Beseeching for a piece of Acknowledgment

Being on the Dean’s List is not an easy job for every student. It requires a lot of energy and effort to be included in the list of recognition. Just to what extent do these students need to achieve to receive a basic ounce of acknowledgment?

Students from different levels and colleges seek the bare minimum of being appreciated for their hard work.

During every semester, some departments are releasing certificates of “Dean’s Listers” to show recognition to the students. However, not every single one of them has been given the luxury of seeing their names on an academic excellence platform to show off to the people.

As simple as may it sound, this creates distressing impacts on the students. The feeling of being unrecognized for all the academic breakdowns they’ve put through doesn’t give it justice. The amount of stress they have to deal with just to comply with the deadlines and obtain good grades deserves the recognition they were beseeching for.

“Nakakawala lang ng motivation kasi s’yempre pinaghirapan namin ‘yon tapos hindi manlang ma-rerecognize (It’s just so unmotivating to put so much effort and receive nothing in return),” said by Rafael Roxas, a Communication student.

They said that a single certificate of recognition they can post or show to their parents can make their hard work pay off. It’s not a joke to deal with so much pressure and stress from academics and somehow, that certificate lifts their confidence and motivates them to keep going.

These students poured all their energy and potential because they believe in how important education is when it comes to reaching their goals and setting up their future. Showing appreciation is the least they can do, it’s not a very hard thing to do.

You can never imagine how this simple token of acknowledgment can light up a fire of motivation in students. A stepping stone for change and development; for achievements and success. These students are only seeking what they deserve. When the time comes to return the favor, they will speak loudly of gratitude for the place they came from and who molded them.
